Yorkshire Day
To celebrate Yorkshire Day on 1 August, the People Experience team created a new webpage listing the best activities and places to visit in South Yorkshire during the Summer holidays on the Workforce Wellbeing website. The total number of website hits by 16 August was almost 500.
We also arranged a family fun day for our internationally educated workforce and allies in South Yorkshire which took place on 4 August at the Rotherham, Doncaster & South Humber NHS Foundation Trust. 141 people who work at different organisations within the ICS attended including children. The purpose of the event was to bring together the internationally educated workforce in South Yorkshire and celebrate the diverse range of cultures. There was a variety of food, face painting, crafts for children and some talks about nutrition and feeding the family.

Suicide prevention
For World Suicide Prevention Day on 10 September, the People Experience team created a new webpage for suicide prevention and support which includes details of local and national support organisations, useful resources and training courses. The Zero Suicide Alliance training is promoted on the webpage which is a short online training course accessible to all to increase skills and confidence in having a potentially life-saving conversation with someone.
The People Experience team are also running a series of suicide first aid courses throughout the year aimed at trained Mental Health First Aiders who work throughout the ICS to enhance their knowledge in supporting colleagues experiencing suicidal thoughts. Positive feedback was received from the course attended by 14 people, which took place on 10th September, with an average rating of 4.8/5. Further courses will be running throughout Autumn/Winter with a total number of 80 available places for all courses running from June to December 2024.
Staff Survey Sharing Event & Combined HWB, OD (Organisational Development) and Retention network
A staff survey sharing event took place on 25 June bringing eight NHS trusts and NHS SY ICB (Integrated Care Board) together to learn about what the NHS Staff survey had told us and some of the magnificent work that has been done to help our amazing workforce in South Yorkshire and how best to engage with our workforce to ensure that they feel respected and listened too.
In the afternoon as part of the combined HWB, OD and retention Network meeting Dr Clare Mulligan-Foster (Occupational and Coaching Psychologist) delivered a really successful Generational Diversity Workshop that inspired us to look at how we better communicate with our generational diverse teams and create the best environments for workforce to thrive in their roles. Both events where well attended we had 40 Health & Wellbeing, Retention, EDI (Equality, Diversity, and Inclusivity) and PPE (People Promise Exemplar) leaders and managers across the system.

Women Inspired South Yorkshire – Launched!
Our South Yorkshire Women’s leadership and aspiring leader events over the past four years have led to a fully-fledged network.
Women Inspired South Yorkshire is connecting women and allies across South Yorkshire health and care who are passionate about gender equality, who want to connect and collaborate and who are looking to move their careers further.

We engaged attendees to share their thoughts for the future of the network!
The event saw the voting open and by mid-August we had elected our first Women Inspired South Yorkshire committee, to steer the network over the next year. Our two co-chairs Hannah Din and Anna Leigh-Pye will be leading the network, and they are supported by a secretary, comms lead, and events team.
We are excited to see what co-production, skill sharing, and mentorship can achieve over2024/2025.
If you work in health and social care in South Yorkshire and would like to join, please click here to register your interest!
