ReSTORE Programme

The ReSTORE programme, now in its second year, has been a resounding success. From the first cohort, six out of seven nurses have successfully qualified and are now registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as registered nurses. Several have commenced their careers as staff nurses at Sheffield Teaching Hospital, with one securing a position at Huddersfield and Calderdale Hospital.

In Rotherham Hospital, our ReSTORE nurses have passed their clinical exams and are currently preparing to complete their English language exams, the final step in their registration process. Meanwhile, the third cohort is undergoing English language preparation and gaining valuable volunteering experience at Sheffield Teaching Hospital.

This progress has been made possible through strong collaboration with the Department for Work and Pensions and our local NHS trusts across South Yorkshire. Looking ahead to 2025, we aim to expand geographically to support more refugee nurses across the North East region. Additionally, we hope to extend the programme to other allied healthcare professionals, further addressing NHS staff shortages and fostering resilience within our healthcare system.
