AHP Faculty
We are delighted to announce that Ursula MacFarlane, the Senior Project Manager in the AHP Faculty, has been awarded the December ICB Star Award. The award was in recognition of Ursula’s contribution in delivering on activities to attract, educate and retain all our AHPs. Her work on practice education and preceptorship has been particularly impactful in achieving this.
Update on workstreams
Practice education: A recent scoping survey has been undertaken to evaluate the existing AHP educator roles across the integrated care system. This has informed a detailed report, and a series of recommendations which includes a menu of training offers for AHP educators. This work is key to ensuring we have confident and competent educators developing our future AHP workforce.
Preceptorship: We have a well-attended preceptorship community of practice, with recent work seeing the AHP Faculty undertake a system evaluation of AHP preceptorship and also support the South Yorkshire acute trusts to undertake organisational stocktakes. Outcomes include development plans for 24/25 and a plan to repeat the stocktake in early 2025.
Leadership Placements: The AHP Faculty recently hosted four leadership placement students on a four-week placement. Aligned to the AHP Strategy for England and ICB priorities the students undertook a project looking at the Health Inequalities in South Yorkshire and AHP services.
Support Workforce: We are proud of the work we have achieved on the support worker workstream, particularly with the thriving support worker forum which is growing by organisation and profession each quarter.
