Health Inequalities Training

Blerta group.jpgBlerta.jpg

Our Health Inequalities team, Blerta and Kathryn, have been delivering training across South Yorkshire and are attending many of the local primary care protected learning (PLI) sessions. They explain the ‘what’ and ‘how’ of health inequalities and importantly what clinicians, working in areas of deprivation with marginalised patients, can do. This builds confidence, knowledge, and skills.

Enhance – Enhancing Generalist Skills

Bid Success for SY ICB & PCWTH

SY was successful in a bid for funding to deliver the ‘Enhance’ generalist skills programme with an initial focus on primary care. The content will be delivered by the training hub and will be built around integrated neighbourhood teams for the following six themes: -

  • Person centred practice
  • Complex co-morbidity
  • System working
  • Population health
  • Social justice and health inequality
  • Environmental sustainability

Health and Social Care Careers Showcase

Liz, our Innovation Centre Project manager, took part in Sheffield City Council's Health and Social Care Careers Event in July.  This was to showcase the Technology Enhanced Learning tools the Hub now offer. Armed with a Pico 4 Enterprise headset she demonstrated ExR Education nursing scenarios and fully immersive VR activities alongside Bodyswaps communications software and our 360 degree digital twin of a GP Practice, in the hopes of inspiring those attending to consider a career in general practice.

Supporting Prescribing
PCWTH is supporting the ICB with increasing prescribing functions – with Pathfinder Project (SY wide), improving uptake of using prescribing amongst pharmacists in Barnsley, piloting a project supporting nurses back to prescribing in Rotherham and working collaboration with ICB on future pharmacist in primary care needing prescribing supervision.

Training for Non-Clinical Primary Care Staff

The training hub runs programmes for Aspiring Practice Managers and Practice Managers and expressions of interest are out for the new cohorts of the schemes. We are also delivering a South Yorkshire primary care managers conference which will take place in October. https://primarycaremanagersconference.my.canva.site

The training hub continue to run updates for general practice supervisors and assessors to enable them to continue taking student placements in primary care, this is in partnership with SHU.
