Barnsley
- We would like to welcome Nicole to the Proud to Care Team, Nicole will be the administrator for the Proud to Care Hub.
 - The Proud to Care hub is partnering with Barnsley College in the development of two branded classrooms. One will be branded as the NHS, this classroom includes a simulated ward environment, whilst the second will be branded as Proud to Care, including all the partners logos who collaborate within the hub.
 - The Princes Trust in Barnsley have won the Partnership Award at Barnsley Councils BU4 Business Unit Awards Ceremony
 - The princes trust/ NHS Partnership were also nominated for an NHS Heart Award reaching the final 3.
 - Barnsley has its first GP practice offering experience of the workplace and Everild Hindley is working with 4 care providers who will hopefully be offering experience of the workplace soon.
 - Everild is also working in conjunction Barnsley College and the Princes trust, to support students to enter the workforce via a 4-step recruitment process, this has been successfully implemented and is planned to be part of the curriculum moving forward.
 
Doncaster
Sector based Work Academy Programme (SWAP)
The Place Workforce lead, DWP partnership role, Facilities Lead at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals and Independent Training Services (Barnsley college) have worked together to develop a SWAP to support job seekers aged 19+, who are claiming benefits, with accredited training and support to apply for facilities roles.
Outcome of the first SWAP August 2024: 17 people started and completed the SWAP, 8 appointed to facilities roles at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals (out of 10 vacancies), the others will apply for future vacancies.
Look to the Future careers event
On 4 September the DWP arranged a ‘Look to the Future’ Careers event at Doncaster Mercure hotel offering tailored support for care leavers aged 16-25. Supported by all Doncaster Health and Social Care organisations and other partners, the event was attended by 20 Care leavers and18 people with Special Educational needs to learn more about support and opportunities for training and employment on offer across Doncaster.

Rotherham
RDASH Volunteering Event – In July we ran a successful volunteering event for RDASH. The event took place at RMBC in the Riverside Café in partnership with RDASH, Voluntary Action Rotherham and SYHA. The event was a good example of how the place partnership can come together to support a particular workstream. RDASH have recruited a number of volunteers following the event. We have also been working closely with TRFT to promote their volunteer programme with partners.
Strategic Governance – is now set up and working well. Connect Healthcare have now joined the partnership representing primary care. Meetings take place monthly to ensure we can track progress on key objectives.
NEET Inclusion Group – we now have a NEET inclusion group set up in Rotherham with all the key partners round the table. The first meeting took place in September and will meet monthly. The next meeting will focus on setting the key priorities for this workstream.
Supported Internship Programme – RMBC are providing more placements for supported interns this year. We are working closely with internal departments to increase the number of placements. Also looking at securing placements with TRFT.
Delivering Workshops for partner organisations – delivered a wide range of workshops promoting health and social care sector. These included 50+ sessions for DWP and how to apply for NHS vacancies for staff from partner organisations working with candidates.
Rotherham College – we have established a strong partnership with the college. We are now looking to maximise work experience and job opportunities into our sector. On September 25th we are delivering a business networking lunch across the network to connect employers with the college. We have 40 people attending the lunch.
