  • Cannon Hall Farm (S75 4AT): is an award winning and famous farm which is often featured on TV farming programmes. It provides a fun day out for the family including a vast range of animals, indoor soft play and lots of new outdoor play areas, tractor rides, sheep & ferret racing – all included in price. There is also a farm shop and restaurant which uses farm produce. All tickets have to be booked in advance online. Check the website for Summer discount codes and entry is £5 after 3.30pm. On the larger grounds of Cannon Hall, you can also explore Cannon Hall museum for free, as well as the park, garden centre and play area.
  • Wigfield Farm (S70 5NQ) which is run by Barnsley College has a wide range of animals, outdoor play areas including a sand pit, regular animal talks and feeding sessions and a café and shop. It is also within walking distance of Worsbrough Mill country park (see our museums section) which means you have the option to make a full day out by visiting both places with a nice walk around Worsbrough reservoir in between.

Doncaster:

  • Boston Park Farm (DN7 6DS) offers a fun day out and has a tearoom, maize maze, indoor & outdoor play areas and animal trail and offers animal handling sessions.
  • Eastfield Farm (DN11 9JD) - Pick your own fruit farm. Seasonal including strawberries in the Summer (as well as some other fruit) and pumpkins in Autumn. It also has a tearoom and fruit and veg stall. No booking required or entry fee, just turn up, pick and pay. Check their Instagram for current PYO available and opening times. An example of pricing is £4.20 per kg of strawberries. They also have another site school farm, Retford, DN22 8DB (@school_farm_pyo)

Rotherham:

  • Aston Springs Farm (S26 5PQ) has a farm trail which includes play area, indoor soft play & pizza restaurant, café and other small shops and businesses in the courtyard.
  • Lawns Farm Shop (S66 9JH) is a farm shop which also has a parlour café that serves coffee, ice cream, cake and snacks and has some farm animals you can look at for free.
  • ​​​​​​​Wentworth Garden Centre (S62 7TF) has a farm where you can see a range of animals and has play areas including a sand & water one.

Sheffield:

  • A Pearson & Sons (S18 8WS) offers pick your own throughout the year including strawberries, raspberries and rhubarb in the Summer and more.
  • Heeley City Farm (S2 3DT) is run by Sheffield Council and is free to visit. It has an outdoor play area and café.
  • Graves Park Animal Farm (S8 8LL) Within Graves Park (biggest park in the South West of Sheffield) you can find Graves Park Animal Farm which is free to enter and has a range of different animals to visit! Graves Park also offers a café and two children playgrounds.
