Richard Metcalfe has been appointed as Programme Lead to the Living With And Beyond Cancer workstream.

The workstream will operate as a partnership between Macmillan Cancer Support and Commissioners Working Together who have agreed a five year programme of work.

The Macmillan Living With And Beyond Cancer Programme will enable us to coordinate a regional approach to providing people with personalised care and information, with support closer to their home.

The transformation programme will focus on breast, colorectal and prostate cancer services.

Richard Metcalfe who is currently Head of Commissioning for Cancer at Doncaster Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) will join the programme team in spring said:

“People affected by cancer are genuinely at the heart of this programme of work and I’m delighted to be part of the team.

“Business as usual is not an option as the health and social care landscape is rapidly changing. There are two million people living with or beyond cancer in the UK. This figure is set to rise to four million by 2030.

“I relish the opportunity to strengthen the partnership between Macmillan Cancer Support and Commissioners Working Together to ensure we deliver real change for people across the region.”

Will Cleary-Gray, Commissioners Working Together Programme Director said:

“This is a truly exciting time and working in partnership with Macmillan we have been able to develop an ambitious programme of work over the next five years which means that people living with and beyond cancer will be able to access the support and care that is right for them.

“We have brought together a strong team to support delivery of our ambition working with all our localities and I look forward to the formal launch in April 2016.”

The programme team will welcome back Hayley Williams to the role of Pathway Coordinator in March.
