As the first area in the country to develop an AHP Council, representing the unique opportunity to develop future health and care services, we want to celebrate all things AHP – as a collective and as individuals. The awards celebrate best practice within Allied Health Professions across the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Integrated Care System (ICS).

The ICS is delighted to be joined by Joanne Fillingham, Clinical Director Allied Health Professions for NHS Improvement and Deputy to Suzanne Rastrick, Chief Allied Health Professions Officer England. She will be highlighting some of the fantastic improvement work taking place by AHPs alongside an update on AHP workstreams nationally and future priorities.
Sir Andrew Cash, Chief Executive of the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Integrated Care System (ICS) will also provide an update on the work of the ICS so far, our response to the NHS Long Term Plan and our next steps as a partnership across South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw.
Work so far on the refreshed SYB AHP Strategy and work plan will be introduced and we will welcome your feedback on what is important to support you in delivering the best quality services.
The awards were open to all 14 Allied Health Professions and are for NHS or publicly funded initiatives/projects and we're delighted to have received so many high quality nominations from all our organisational partners - particularly during our first year running!

As an ICS, public health, population health and prevention are a key focus: we know that around 80% of health problems could be prevented and 60% are caused by other factors.
Nominations in this category should demonstrate the contribution of a champion in one or more of the impact areas, commitments or priorities in AHPs into Action. Nominations should demonstrate innovations, projects or initiatives in any setting that reflect how AHPs have helped embed public health and making every contact count in AHP interventions.
As an ICS, our vision is to develop a fully integrated digital service across South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw, making more effective use of the technical expertise we already have across the region and allowing our digital abilities to develop in line with the advances in technology we're seeing all over the world.
Nominations are welcome from AHPs who have led the way in digital developments. They need to be able to demonstrate innovation in information and communication technologies and how the innovation, project or initiative impacts in one or more of the impact areas, commitments or priorities in AHPs into Action.
We have over 48,000 members of staff working across the ICS to meet the needs of 1.5 million people across South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw. Our staff provide services 24 hours per day, 365 days a year, and we must continue to support them to do the best possible job they can do. All our staff are key to achieving our ambitions for health and care.
Nominations are welcome for this award from AHPs who are demonstrating innovation in AHP supply and workforce e.g. new ways of work experience, return to practice or showing innovation in growing your own sustainable AHP workforce.
Nominations are welcomed from AHP practitioners, or a team of practitioners to which AHPs have contributed, who have relentlessly focus on driving quality improvement in their work and who have been strong advocates for quality improvement at a local neighbourhood, community or organisational level.
Applications should describe the strategy adopted to deliver improvements, the mechanisms to deliver this work and how this has or will be applied and monitored going forward.
Nominations are welcomed from AHP practitioners, or a team of practitioners to which AHPs have contributed, who have relentlessly focus on driving quality improvement in their work and who have been strong advocates for quality improvement at local ‘Place’ level, eg, across organisational boundaries in one of our five places of Barnsley, Bassetlaw, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield.
Applications should describe the strategy adopted to deliver improvements, the mechanisms to deliver this work and how this has or will be applied and monitored going forward.
Nominations are welcomed from AHP practitioners, or a team of practitioners to which AHPs have contributed, who have relentlessly focus on driving quality improvement in their work and who have been strong advocates for quality improvement at a ‘system’ level across multiple organisations or partners in South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw.
Applications should describe the strategy adopted to deliver improvements, the mechanisms to deliver this work and how this has or will be applied and monitored going forward.
As an ICS we are keen to develop multi-professional, multi-level leadership across our services, organisations, Places and system.
Nominations are invited from individuals or teams for AHP leaders that are able to demonstrate how they have driven forward broad and sustainable innovation, delivery or change that has led to positive impact in line with the aspirations of AHPs into Action. The nomination needs to be able to demonstrate significant AHP leadership that is impacting in one or more of the impact, commitments or priority areas. It should describe challenges faced, the leadership approach taken to address this and the impact made.
Research and Innovation lies at the heart of the NHS and is critical if we are to improve and modernise services for patients across South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw.
We want be national and international leaders in the development and implementation of innovative methods to improve quality of care for local people, service efficiency, workforce skills and the overall health and wellbeing of the communities we serve.
This award focuses on the contribution made by AHPs in developing, leading or supporting research in health, social care and public health, and the impact that this contribution has made. Submissions are welcome from individuals or teams who have led research projects or initiatives that have had a positive impact on AHPs, AHP services, patients and citizens – including but not limited to safety, quality and outcomes; service delivery, efficiency and productivity; or education and workforce development.
