Barnsley and Rotherham stroke survivors and their families/carers are being asked for feedback about their care.

After working together across hospitals to improve stroke care in South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw, we now have three Regional Hyper Acute Stroke Units which provide specialist care 24/7 for anyone who has a stroke in Barnsley, Bassetlaw, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield – with some patients being treated at a hospital which isn’t their local one for the first few days.

Since the change (in July 2019 for Rotherham patients and October 2019 for Barnsley patients), over 700 people have been treated in one of the three regional centres and we are seeking the views of anyone from Barnsley and Rotherham who has had a stroke and was treated at either Doncaster Royal Infirmary, the Royal Hallamshire Hospital or Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield before either being discharged home or transferred to Barnsley or Rotherham Hospitals.

All feedback is anonymous and will be used to make sure we are providing the best possible care and make improvements to the experience of future stroke patients and survivors in our region.
