The South Yorkshire Academy for Population Health and Health Inequalities will be running an exciting programme of learning opportunities throughout 2023.
We have partnered with the South Yorkshire Behavioural Sciences Academy. The programme has been set up to ensure the sustainability of the “nudge the odds” programme and to ensure that behavioural science becomes a practical tool in the development of health care services by supporting the appropriate use and ongoing development of nudge resources.
The programme runs over 9 months and participants will need to spend approximately 2 days per month on learning activities, such as self-directed learning, project work and joining action-learning sets. The programme covers an introduction to behavioural science, the “science of choice”, and designing and trialling behavioural interventions.
In December 2022 and January 2023 we will be seeking expressions of interest for Communities of Practice (CoP). These groups come together to share best practice and deepen knowledge and expertise. The communities are open to all people working in health, care and the voluntary sector in South Yorkshire.
We have already had expressions of interest to form communities of practice for the following:
- Addressing health inequalities in primary care
- Inclusion health
- Data And Intelligence for South Yorkshire (DAISY)
- Physical health for people with serious mental illness
Visit our CoP page to complete the form if you are interested in joining one of the communities. We won’t be stopping there. If you have an idea for a Community of Practice then we would love to hear from you.
In 2023 we will be launching an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively with people from cross-sector groups on projects supporting areas of the Core 20 plus 5 framework in their local areas. These projects will be funded and are designed to get people working collaboratively to make a difference to health inequalities. The projects will be supported by facilitators and action-learning sets.
Our website already contains a directory of helpful resources on population health and health inequality. This will continue to expand as we gather more helpful information, courses and conferences. If you’re using a helpful resource, then please share it with us so that we can all benefit.
In the first half of 2023, there will be a series of mini-conferences focussing on health inequalities themes from the Core20plus5 framework, for both adults and children and young people.
If you wish to get involved in contributing to the conference programme, either from a practical perspective, or by sharing your knowledge, then please get in touch.
We will be working closely with public health colleagues from our four places on the development of prevention approaches. We will publish further details of these activities in 2023.
We have partnered with colleagues from South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board and NHS England for the delivery of a quality improvement programme, which aims to change behaviour and organisation to achieve better patient and outcomes by using systematic change methods and strategies. The programme uses a range of improvement and change methods. We will publish further details of the programme in 2023.
