Chris Lomas joins the Macmillan Living With And Beyond Cancer Programme from her role of Integrated Personal Commissioning Programme Manager at Sheffield Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), a programme of work which involved improving personalised care across local health and social care systems.
Chris, who works with Sheffield CCG, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, the community and voluntary sector, explains her motivation in applying for the Macmillan Project Manager role, and why she is focussed on achieving better outcomes for people:
“ I have a real drive to make a difference; I’m motivated to work in areas that result in real change to people’s lives.
“ I have always placed enormous value on the importance of person centred care; my new programme role reflects this same focus.
“In Sheffield we rightly hold our cancer services in high regard, but equally we know they can be better. We’re unique regionally, as we’re the cancer centre of South Yorkshire and beyond, the city has an ambition to deliver the best cancer care available.
“One of my priorities is to ensure that the voices of people living with and beyond cancer are represented on our Sheffield locality board; a key part of driving change and improvements.
“We want people to feel part of a co-production structure and genuinely heard.
“Cancer is something that affects us all, we all have experience of losing loved ones to cancer, or personal experience of cancer. These experiences leave a lasting impression on people and we should be ensuring the best experience possible.”
