SY Workforce Hub Quarterly Highlights Report (April - June 24)
Advanced Clinical Practice
Advanced practice continues to go from strength to strength within South Yorkshire despite the new structure and reduction of team members supporting advanced practice.
Governance is a priority objective at present, and we have forged new links with colleagues in Rotherham and Barnsley to start implementing governance and assurance tools to ensure practitioner and patient safety. Our first governance workshop has been held in Sheffield with good attendance and 3 more are planned for Doncaster, Rotherham and Barnsley. With support from the ACP lead we have increased or compliance with the governance maturity matrix tool from 17 to 77% across the main trusts.
We currently have 356 trainee ACPs on programme. We are still receiving and supporting new applications for trainee ACP posts to start this September and to date we are expecting to see at least 67 new trainees starting in the next academic year.
We held an amazing cardiology conference which saw nearly 100 ACPs and PAs attend with positive feedback.
Our advanced practice support programme has delivered 8 online education sessions, 2 face to face clinical supervision meetings and 2 ACP network days.
Work with individual trust ACP leads continues to identify barriers and enablers to expanding the workforce and the ICB ACP lead is working with AHP lead to integrate accordingly.
May also saw the launch of the South Yorkshire trainee ACP handbook and core clinical competencies as agreed by leads across the ICB.
