As we head into what’s likely to be the most challenging of winters for health services, a new website, designed so that doctors and other health and care staff can signpost parents and pregnant women to accurate, quality, local health information is set to launch.
With content provided by clinicians and health and care professionals from South Yorkshire, the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Healthier Together website will provide consistent, medically-led advice and guidance for pregnant women, parents, families and young people in Barnsley, Bassetlaw, Chesterfield, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield. Through up to date and locally developed guidance the website will help pregnant women, parents/ carers, teenagers and healthcare professionals to look after themselves and access timely health care when needed.
The website will also feature ‘Browse Aloud’ to help professionals provide a reliable source of information to their patients who have visual, auditory or translation needs. Browse aloud makes digital content more accessible and available to everyone, provides access to those who cannot read and don’t have English as their first language and provides web visitors with instant access to supportive features, helping to reduce barriers between your digital content and your diverse online audiences.
The project has been in development since before the pandemic, however every effort is now being made to ensure at least the key pages can be launched for this winter to help health and care professionals to manage the bronchiolitis season which adds extra pressure into the health system each year.
Get Involved
We are now seeking the views of a number of parents/ carers of young children about the content of the site as it is being developed.
We are looking for a dozen people to join us on a Zoom or MS Teams style in the coming weeks to chat about their thoughts on the developing site.
Please email helloworkingtogether@nhs.net if you are interested and confirm the ages of your children in the email.
