A regional adult attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autism service has received a prestigious accreditation.
Royal College of Psychiatrists awarded their Acreditation for Community Mental Health Services (ACOMHS) to the South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust's ADHD and Autism service.
Achieving the standard means that the service carries out timely assessment and treatment which is focussed on individual needs and recovery goals. The service is person-centred and takes into account its users’ unique and changing personal, psychosocial and physical needs.
Professor Marios Adamou, Consultant Psychiatrist, said:
“ADHD and Autism are neurodevelopmental conditions than can affect children and well as adults and good quality services in the UK are not always available”.
“We are delighted with this accreditation which assures staff, service users and carers, commissioners and regulators of the quality of the service provided.”
The team is the only one working with adult neurodevelopmental disorders ever to receive the accreditation, with only one more community mental health team in the whole of Yorkshire having also been awarded the ACOMHS quality mark.
